Bengals' Fans React to 'Gay' Taunts |

CINCINNATI - Nothing provokes a football fan like a good "gay" taunt. When Steelers' fans yelled "gay," "homo," and "faggoty fag fag fag" at Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday, Bengals' fans fought back.
"There is no 'gay' or 'not gay'," Guy Oglesme said. "Sexuality is a spectrum. Most people are somewhere in the middle."
A group of fans gathered Monday for a fashion show to protest the remarks. Bam Holl of West Chester sported a "Who Gay!" towel.
"I show this to anyone who dares throw a homophobic crack my way," Bam said.
The "Who Gay!" chant is believed to have evolved from "Who you callin' gay?" This chant was first used in Boston by New England fans when rival NY Jet fans started referring to the club as the Gaytriots.
Happy Gottman of Milford had the final say at the fashion show. "I don't understand the name calling," he said as he tugged at the ears of his tiger hat. "We all share the same goal. We just want to get together with a bunch of our guy friends on Sunday and watch our respective teams go at each other." |
