“Couch boy” Loved Porn And Video Games
There was nothing better than a lazy afternoon on the couch with a 2-liter of Coca-Cola in one hand and some KY jelly smeared in the other. With porn ablaze from his 30-inch television screen, Jerry "Couch Boy" Matheny lived most of his life in the finished basement of his parents' home in West Chester.
He died Sunday evening after neglecting several years of developing symptoms that would become cirrhosis of the liver. He was 33 and did not have medical coverage.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Mr. Matheny graduated from Hughes High School in 1990 and went on to attend the University of Illinois where he earned a useless degree in computer engineering in 1994.
After graduation, Mr. Matheny took employment with a reputable Fortune 500 company and was downsized shortly after when his job was farmed out to India for a quarter of his salary.
He moved into his parents basement and remained there until his death.
"He was a wonderful boy", said his mother, Joyce Matheny. "I think he was depressed, but it was hard to tell with all the Prozac he was taking."
According to his mother, Mr. Matheny was an avid pornologist, video game enthusiast, and sleep afficionado, who would consume an average of four 2-liters of Coca-Cola a day.
"He had a collection of porn and video games so large, that we had to rent a truck to remove it all. We gave it to Sam Malone, because he kept calling here, asking what we were going to do with it."
University of Cincinnati Professor of psychology, Stephen Cosby, says that the generation X’ers are at a disadvantage.
"This is something that we have never seen before," said Cosby. "More and more gen x'ers seem to be dying in the basements of their parents' homes. I guess the world is less disappointing through a Prozac glaze, a hardened liver from Coca-Cola and McDonald’s abuse, and Jenna Jameson humping Janine on your plasma TV screen."
Services were held at the convenience of the family.
Donations can be made to any area McDonald's location. |
